ECT training
ISTIP offers professional development to ECTs via regional training centres. A school will assign an ECT to a centre during the registration process.
There are two regional meetings for Year 1 ECTs (Autumn and Summer term) and one meeting for Year 2 ECTs (Spring term).
We also run webinars and in-person training throughout the year and these can be booked via the links below.

Delivering RSHE with Confidence: Safety, Inclusion & Student Voice
Led by IT Happens, this session will look at creating safe Inclusive spaces; co-creation of ground rules; distancing, boundaries & protecting yourself; post its/surveys & managing anonymous questions; the nuances of language and signposting & where to find out more. This session is appriopriate for Prep and Senior ECTs.

Stretching the More Able
Join Ian Warwick for a practical webinar exploring effective strategies to engage, stretch, and challenge more able learners in the classroom. Designed for prep and senior colleagues, this session will share actionable techniques to keep high-attaining pupils motivated and progressing.

Use of Voice
Mike Carter, Body Language Expert and Vocal Coach, will be offering a webinar explaining how the vocal apparatus works and identifying ways in which teachers can use the voice more effectively both in and out of the classroom. He will also take teachers through vocal warm-up exercises and he’ll be suggesting ways to minimise vocal strain.

Teacher Toolkit: Study Skills
Led by Ross McGill, AKA Teacher Toolkit, this will be a hands on, interactive session engaging with tools you can use to support the study of your students. Plenty of take aways and easy to access resources to support teaching and learning in the classroom. Suitable for Prep and Senior ECTs.

Supporting Neurodiversity in the Classroom – The Godolphin & Latymer School, London
1-day training for ECTs led by Lynn McCann from Reachout ASC, focused on understanding the potential and challenges for neurodivergent pupils in your setting, we will look at case studies and consider how you might plan for pupils you teach. There will be time for Q+A and discussion.
